Interactive Art?

This was an interesting interactive piece of art I saw with Natalie when we visited the liverpool biennial. 

There was a bit of a language barrier with the lady who kindly showed us the way the piece was supposed to work so neither of us quite knew what we were doing. :)

After washing the booklet in the water we were told to keep hold of it as when it dries out a unique piece of art would be revealed. 

Unfortunately when the piece had dried the page didn't reveal anything so it's a bit difficult to distinguish whether it worked or not -  i'm airing on the side of not. I did however really like the concept behind this piece and thought the artist (who I can't find on the biennial site) was really on to something. 

Slight update*

Having just found my biennial map I've discovered the artist who created this piece. Her name is Marnie Slater and the process behind the piece is called 'watermarking.' I now want to go back and actually mark the pages to see the effects! nvm.  

Salford Journey!

Whilst going to the open day at Salford University I thought it would be a nice idea to go exploring and take a few pictures of the surrounding buildings for my project.

I really liked the way the shadows were cast on the Salford Cathedral (must have just been the right time of day to be there) so I took a few pictures.

Unfortunately I couldn't get a complete view of the Cathedral as it was absolutely massive and as much as I lent against the wall there was no way I could fit it all in frame. I decided to take a few panoramic shots with the idea being to stitch them together later in Photoshop.

Liverpool Biennial Exhibition

A couple of months ago we went on a class trip to the Liverpool Biennial Art Exhibition. A piece that really drew me in was created by Hong Kong based artist Leng Mee-ping. At first when I was walking up to the wall I initially thought the pieces were actually photographs as they were incredibly detailed - as you can see below:

It wasn't until I got close that I actually realised these were in fact created using acrylic paint. The level of detail in these pictures really impressed me and I became lost in the story each painting told.

The paintings depicted various touristy locations and activities and showed the more commercial and cultural side of Hong Kong; which appealed to me as it's also been somewhere I'd like to visit.

Another interesting piece that caught my attention was by the same artist and depicted what appeared to be a homeless man making his way (drunkenly) through Hong Kong.

I'm not usually into video art but this particular piece held my attention for quite a while. I was interested to see if the homeless man would eventually notice the camera following him. ;p
